Goethe-Institut Hanoi invites the Gewandhaus Choir Leipzig, directed by Gregor Meyer, to Vietnam in order to perform several concerts. On their first evening, the singers from Leipzig will perform an a capella concert consisting of German folk songs covering three centuries in the big concert hall at the Music Academy Hanoi. What’s special about this evening is that anyone who is interested, already gained some experience with choir singing and signs up until September 30, 2016 at Goethe-Institut is invited to join the German singers on the stage and to sing two polyphonic songs with them. The required German notes and texts will be sent to the participants in time, which allows them to prepare themselves for their big performance. On the day of the concert, there will be a collective rehearsal at 2 PM. We’ll let you know the venue in time.

The Gewandhaus Choir Leipzig has been one of the most renowned German concert choirs for over 150 years and is closely related to the traditional Gewandhaus orchestra Leipzig. The choir is covering a huge variety of genres, apart from a capella they are also singing symphonic music, gospel, soul, pop and jazz.
